I made these 4 inch coasters over the course of a week. They were an exercise in seeing how viable cedar would be in a CNC application. Some people expressed an interest in seeing them sold, though, so here we are. This wood was cut and sawn from raw timber by yours truly, carved on CNC, then hand finished. I selected the wood with the most character for this project because I wanted them to have a rough, natural look. Because that, they are only lightly finished and the wood’s natural features (cracks, blemishes, knots, etc…) are allowed to be shown. They are coated with two coats of poly.
There are four different prints represented: Tiger, Fox, Bear, and Wolf.
Each set is $40 and comes with four coasters and a stand. Five sets currently exist. I am planning to do one more set of each before I move on to other projects.
I would consider these more art decor than functional, but might be fine to put drinks on. (For instance, the bear print might be iffy because of how much material is cut away.)
